About Award
The Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) is committed to recognizing exceptional achievements in sustainability within the Arab fertilizer industry. The AFA Sustainability Excellence Prize Awards aim to honor companies that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in operational excellence, sustainability performance, health, safety, and environment (EHS) initiatives. These awards celebrate the companies that have implemented innovative practices to reduce their environmental footprint, enhance resource efficiency, and contribute positively to their communities.

AFA encourages proposals in the following areas (but not limited to)

Adequacy and Content
of the Submission

Operational Excellence
The company should demonstrate its Operational Excellence Performance by providing a written statement that is no longer than 250 words and support the same by providing statistical/graphical evidence. In this category, the company may share (but not limited to) its on-stream performance, production performance, business achievements and awards that are not related to sustainability nor EHS, management system certifications, etc.
Sustainability Performance
The company should demonstrate its Sustainability Performance by providing a written statement that is no longer than 250 words and support the same by providing supporting evidence. In this category, the company may share (but not limited to) its sustainability strategy, goals, sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reports (audited reports will carry higher marks than
non-audited), Documentation verifying any relevant certifications or third-party audits the company has
undergone, such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems), ISO 26000 (Social Responsibility), or specific sustainability certifications related to the fertilizer industry


EHS Performance
The company should demonstrate its EHS Performance by providing a written statement that is no company may share
(but not limited to) its lost time accidents (LTA) rate for the past 3 years, its recordable accident rate (RTA), its pro-active and re-active safety indicators, its environmental statistics including greenhouse gas emissions, waste to landfill, effluent statics, recycling statistics and health statistics.
Adequacy and Content of the Submission
Completeness and Clarity (4 Points): Submissions should be clear, concise, and well-organized, providing all the necessary information to enable a thorough evaluation.
Incomplete or unclear submissions will lose points.
